Algeria has lost one
\nof its most prominent scholars and Quran commentators with the passing of the
\nesteemed Sheikh Si El Hadj Mohand Tayeb on Saturday in the province of Tizi
\nOuzou at the age of 92<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

His death marks the
\nend of a decades-long journey devoted to serving the Holy Quran, educating
\ngenerations, and preserving Algeria\u2019s national identity in all its cultural and
\nlinguistic dimensions<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Minister of
\nReligious Affairs and Endowments Youssef Belmehdi mourned the late scholar,
\nstressing that Algeria has lost one of its distinguished figures and a man who
\ndedicated his life to spreading knowledge, religious guidance, and the
\ninterpretation of the Holy Quran. He praised the Sheikh\u2019s significant
\ncontributions to religion and national culture<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A
\nScholar Who Dedicated His Life to Knowledge and the Quran<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sheikh Mohand Tayeb
\nwas widely regarded as one of the most prominent scholars of the Kabylie region
\nand Algeria as a whole. Born in 1934 in the municipality of Iferhoun\u00e8ne in Tizi
\nOuzou Province, he memorized the Holy Quran at an early age before pursuing his
\nstudies at several religious and academic institutions, including the Sidi Omar
\nOulhadj Zawiya and the Ibn Badis Institute in Constantine<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He later embarked on
\na long career in education, training, and religious guidance. The late Sheikh
\nserved as an Arabic language teacher before becoming an education inspector
\nafter graduating from the Inspectors\u2019 Training Center at the Higher School of Teachers
\nin Kouba. He was also assigned to France to oversee Arabic language education
\nfor members of the Algerian community before continuing his educational and
\nreligious mission in Algeria until his retirement<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\nresearch, revision, and scholarly work, combining adherence to Islamic
\nprinciples with pride in Algeria\u2019s linguistic heritage<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The translation was
\nlater approved by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran,
\ncontributing to its dissemination both inside Algeria and abroad, and
\nestablishing Sheikh Mohand Tayeb as one of the leading figures who helped make
\nthe meanings of the Quran more accessible to Amazigh-speaking communities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The late Sheikh was
\nalso known for his extensive intellectual and scholarly activities. He served
\nas an imam, a contracted educator with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and a
\nmember of several scientific and advisory bodies. He also participated in numerous
\nintellectual and cultural conferences and seminars and received several
\nnational honors in recognition of his contributions to scholarship, Quranic
\nstudies, and culture<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

With the passing of
\nSheikh Si El Hadj Mohand Tayeb, Algeria closes a chapter in the life of one of
\nits distinguished men who combined scholarship, education, and service to the
\nHoly Quran. He leaves behind a lasting intellectual and spiritual legacy, embodying
\nthe conviction that language is a bridge for unity and communication, and that
\nthe Holy Quran remains the greatest bond uniting the nation and a cornerstone
\nof its identity and values<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
