A proposal to establish a
\nNational Qur\u2019an Memorisation Council, agreed upon last Friday during the \u201cAnak
\nBangsa\u201d Education Conference 2026, is expected to be presented to the Malaysian
\nCabinet at its meeting scheduled for next Wednesday for consideration and
\napproval<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister
\nDatuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the initiative aims to strengthen the
\nstatus of Qur\u2019an memorisation education within the national education system,
\ncontributing to balanced human development that integrates knowledge with moral
\nvalues<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Zahid stressed that this
\ndirection \u201cshould not be regarded as a secondary pathway, but must be given a
\nmore prominent position within the national education system<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He made the remarks during the
\nopening of the conference held at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, where
\nhe emphasised the country\u2019s goal of producing Qur\u2019an memorizers who are not
\nonly proficient in memorisation, but also excel in various professional fields,
\nincluding engineering, medicine, technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The conference brought together
\nmore than 5,000 participants, including academics, professionals, and students,
\nand was held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of
\nUMNO, one of the components of the ruling coalition in Malaysia<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the
\nPresident of UMNO, further highlighted the importance of developing Qur\u2019an
\nmemorisation education into a structured national priority, going beyond
\nexisting programmes such as the Qur\u2019an memorisation preschool initiative, the
\nUlul Albab programme at MARA Junior Science College (MRSM), and various
\ntechnical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes linked to
\nQur\u2019anic memorisation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He also called for stronger
\ncoordination between public and private higher education institutions and for
\nintegrating Qur\u2019an memorisation education into a clear and comprehensive
\necosystem, ensuring broader academic and career pathways for graduates<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
