The ships of the \u201cGlobal
\nSteadfastness Fleet\u201d have arrived at the port of Port of Syracuse on the
\nItalian island of Sicily, as part of the \u201cSpring 2026 Mission,\u201d aimed at
\nbreaking the blockade imposed by the Zionist occupation on the Gaza Strip and
\ndelivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The ships set sail on April 12
\nfrom the Spanish city of Barcelona, within a new initiative involving
\nrepresentatives of civil society organizations, activists, and volunteers from
\nvarious countries around the world, with the goal of delivering humanitarian
\nassistance to Palestinians in Gaza<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative marks the fleet\u2019s
\nsecond attempt, following a previous mission in September 2025 which, according
\nto organizers, ended after the ships were attacked by the Zionist occupation in
\nOctober while sailing in international waters, and hundreds of activists were
\ndetained before being deported<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Saif, a member of the fleet\u2019s
\nboard of directors, described the first phase of the journey as \u201csuccessful,\u201d
\nstating: \u201cOn the way, we forced one of the world\u2019s largest cargo ships, which
\nwas transporting materials to the Zionist occupation, to change its course<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cOur ultimate goal is
\nto break the blockade and reach Gaza. I do not know what the outcome of this
\nmission will be, but we will continue until that is achieved. We will never
\nstop<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Israel has imposed a blockade on
\nthe Gaza Strip since 2007. Palestinian data indicate that the ongoing war since
\nOctober 2023 has resulted in tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, caused
\nwidespread destruction of infrastructure, and led to a severe humanitarian
\ncrisis in the territory, amid strict restrictions on the entry of aid, fuel,
\nand medical supplies<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Gaza Strip is experiencing an
\nunprecedented humanitarian and health crisis since the start of the war of
\ngenocide, which has led to extensive destruction of infrastructure, including
\nhospitals and healthcare facilities<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The territory also suffers from
\nstrict restrictions on the entry of fuel and medical supplies, along with a
\nsevere shortage of medicines and equipment<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
