Islamic Authority in Austria Rejects All Forms of Extremism,

The
\nIslamic Authority in Austria has reaffirmed its unequivocal rejection of all
\nforms of extremism, stressing that the exploitation of religion to justify
\nviolence or spread hatred directly contradicts its core principles of
\ncompassion, coexistence, and responsibility.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nAuthority called for adopting a societal approach based on avoiding
\ngeneralization, promoting mutual understanding, and expanding cooperation among
\nall segments of society, describing this as a fundamental pillar in confronting
\nextremism and limiting its impact.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It also
\nwarned that conflating religion with extremism not only distorts religious
\nvalues but also deepens societal divisions and fuels extremist narratives that
\nseek to undermine stability.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In its
\nconcluding remarks, the Authority emphasized that addressing these challenges
\nrequires rational dialogue and comprehensive institutional and community
\ncooperation, in a way that strengthens social cohesion and resilience in the
\nface of growing challenges.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This
\nposition comes in parallel with findings from the 2025 Constitutional
\nProtection Report, issued by the Austrian Ministry of Interior on May 4, 2026,
\nwhich revealed a notable rise in indicators of extremism within Austrian
\nsociety, particularly among far-right groups, as well as religiously motivated
\nextremism, highlighting increasing challenges to security and social stability.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This
\ndevelopment also coincides with a widening public debate on the relationship
\nbetween religion and extremism, and the negative consequences of conflating the
\ntwo on social cohesion, alongside renewed emphasis on the need to clearly
\ndistinguish between authentic religious values and extremist practices that
\ncontradict them.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
