Residents of Al-Quds mourned, on
\nSunday, the body of the muezzin and reciter of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Naji
\nFayez Al-Qazzaz, at the age of 66, following his death on Saturday. The funeral
\ntook place in a solemn procession that began from the courtyards of the blessed
\nAl-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Al-Quds, where funeral prayers were performed before
\nhis burial in one of the city\u2019s cemeteries<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The late Sheikh was considered
\none of the most prominent muezzins of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He began officially
\ncalling the adhan in 1978 and continued for decades to perform the call to
\nprayer for the five daily prayers. He also participated in Quranic recitations
\ninside the mosque, which made his voice a constant presence deeply connected to
\nworshippers and visitors of Al-Aqsa over many years<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

A Jerusalemite family legacy<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sheikh Naji Al-Qazzaz belonged to
\na well-known Jerusalemite family that inherited the duty of calling the adhan
\nin Al-Aqsa Mosque across successive generations for centuries, forming a deeply
\nrooted religious legacy within Al-Aqsa. His son, Firas Al-Qazzaz, continues
\nthis family tradition in serving the mosque<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Egypt\u2019s Minister of Endowments,
\nOsama Al-Azhari, also mourned Sheikh Al-Qazzaz in a statement published by the
\nministry on the platform \u201cX,\u201d expressing deep sorrow over his death and noting
\nthat the deceased dedicated his life to serving Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that his
\nvoice remained linked to the memory of the people of Al-Quds and its visitors
\nfor decades<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The statement added that the late
\nSheikh represented a model of sincerity and dedication, and was an extension of
\na long family heritage in raising the adhan within the Al-Aqsa sanctuary. His
\nvoice formed a constant spiritual presence and a source of reassurance
\nthroughout the mosque<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In the same context, the
\nPalestinian Islamic Jihad Movement mourned Sheikh Al-Qazzaz, affirming that he
\npassed away after a long journey of dedication, steadfastness, and devotion in
\nAl-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The administration of Al-Aqsa
\nMosque had announced the news of Sheikh Al-Qazzaz\u2019s death on Saturday evening
\nvia loudspeakers in the mosque\u2019s courtyards, informing worshippers who bid him
\nfarewell with prayers and supplications, in a moment of farewell to one of the
\nvoices most closely tied to the place, time, and collective memory of Al-Quds<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
