Amsterdam Commemorates Gaza\u2019s Victims: Children\u2019s Shoes and

The
\nDutch capital, Amsterdam, witnessed a moving event on Sunday commemorating
\nPalestinian children and journalists who were killed as a result of the
\ngenocide and ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip, in a clear message condemning
\ncrimes committed against civilians.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nevent was held in the famous Dam Square in the city center, organized by the
\n\u201cPlant an Olive Tree\u201d foundation. Photos and names of journalists killed during
\nthe assault were displayed to highlight the violations they faced, while
\nthousands of children\u2019s shoes were placed at the site as a symbol of the scale
\nof the tragedy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Dutch
\nartists, actors, and producers participated by reading aloud the names and ages
\nof the child victims one by one, while volunteers distributed informational
\nleaflets to passersby explaining the situation in Gaza and providing details
\nabout the humanitarian conditions.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Esther
\nvan der Most, director of the foundation, stated that the event is being
\norganized for the sixteenth time in solidarity with Palestinian children, and
\nfor the fourth time to commemorate journalists. She noted that 10,000
\nchildren\u2019s shoes were displayed during the January 2024 event, while the number
\nof child victims has now risen to approximately 20,000.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

She
\nadded that this figure does not fully reflect reality, as there are children
\nstill missing under the rubble, in Israeli prisons, or who have died due to the
\nweapons used.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

For her
\npart, Dutch actress and media personality Georgina Verbaan affirmed that her
\nparticipation aimed to draw attention to the suffering of Palestinians,
\nespecially children, saying: \u201cI am here to convey this voice, in the hope that
\nit will prompt those capable of making change to take action.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Despite
\na ceasefire agreement in Gaza being in effect since October 10 of last year,
\nthe occupying authorities have not adhered to the humanitarian protocol,
\ncontinuing to restrict the entry of food, medical aid, and fuel, thereby
\nworsening the humanitarian crisis.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This
\ncomes in the aftermath of what has been described as a genocidal war that began
\non October 8, 2023, with U.S. support, and has continued in various forms,
\nresulting in more than 72,000 deaths and over 172,000 injuries, in addition to
\nwidespread destruction affecting around 90% of the civilian infrastructure in
\nthe Gaza Strip.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
