Ships of
\nthe \u201cGlobal Sumud Flotilla\u201d departed on Sunday from the coast of Barcelona,
\nheading toward the Gaza Strip on a humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the
\nblockade imposed by the Israeli occupation and delivering aid to the
\nterritory\u2019s residents.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This
\nmarks the second such initiative in less than a year, with broader
\nparticipation and significantly greater international momentum compared to the
\nprevious attempt.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In press
\nremarks from Barcelona, flotilla spokesperson Pablo Castilla explained that the
\ninitiative primarily seeks to \u201cdenounce international complicity in the crimes
\nof genocide being committed in Gaza, demand accountability for those
\nresponsible, and work toward opening a safe humanitarian corridor by sea and
\nland.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Castilla
\nnoted a decline in international attention to the situation in the Gaza Strip,
\nattributing it to other regional developments, including U.S. and Israeli
\nstrikes on Iran and Israeli attacks in Lebanon, which have negatively affected
\nthe visibility of the Palestinian cause on the international stage.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He
\nstressed that the Israeli occupation continues to tighten its blockade on the
\nenclave, imposing increasing restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid,
\nalongside the expansion of settlements and the acceleration of land seizures in
\nthe Palestinian territories.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It is
\nworth noting that the previous flotilla attempt was launched in September 2025,
\nalso from Barcelona, involving 42 boats and 462 activists. The current edition
\nis expected to include around 70 boats and nearly 1,000 volunteers representing
\n70 countries, signaling a growing wave of international support for this
\nhumanitarian initiative.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
