Worshippers Return to Al-Aqsa Mosque After 40-Day Closure<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

At dawn
\non Thursday, the doors of the Al-Aqsa Mosque were reopened to Palestinian
\nworshippers after a 40-day closure imposed by the Israeli occupation. Footage
\ncirculating online showed worshippers streaming into the mosque courtyards,
\nexpressing their joy at returning to perform religious rituals after a long
\ninterruption.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Video
\nclips also documented cleaning and organizing efforts carried out by volunteers
\nand mosque custodians in the courtyards and prayer halls, in preparation for
\nwelcoming worshippers.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nIslamic Waqf Department in occupied Jerusalem confirmed in a brief statement
\nthat the mosque doors would open starting from Thursday\u2019s dawn prayer, without
\nproviding details regarding any potential entry restrictions.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nreopening followed an announcement by the Israeli occupation on Wednesday
\nevening of its readiness to reopen Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy
\nSepulchre in Jerusalem, after both had been completely closed since February
\n28, due to the war with Iran.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nIsraeli occupation police reported deploying hundreds of officers and border
\nguard forces in the alleys of the Old City and on roads leading to the holy
\nsites, claiming these measures aim to \u201csecure visitors.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the
\npast six weeks, Jerusalem and its holy sites have witnessed strict security
\nmeasures and repeated closures, amid a high state of alert imposed by the
\nIsraeli occupation due to regional tensions with Tehran.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
