Kurdistan Branch of the Union Holds Its First Forum in
\nSulaymaniyah to Strengthen Scholars\u2019 Unity and Serve the Ummah<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

On
\nMonday, August 11, 2025, the Kurdistan branch of the International Union of
\nMuslim Scholars convened the first regular forum for the Sulaymaniyah district
\nin northeastern Iraq under the theme: \u201cInternational Union of Muslim Scholars \u2013
\nGoals and Duties,\u201d with the participation of union members from the province.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nforum opened with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a
\nwelcoming speech delivered by Dr. Muhammad Nasrallah Habib, union member and
\nhead of the Sulaymaniyah district, who warmly greeted attendees and emphasized
\nthe significance of the meeting in enhancing the role of scholars in serving
\nthe Muslim Ummah.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Devout Scholar and Guardians of the Creed<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Dr.
\nAhmed Wahab Majid Al-Binjawini, head of the Kurdistan branch, delivered a
\nvaluable lecture titled \u201cThe Devout Scholar,\u201d in which he highlighted the
\nesteemed status of devout scholars as guardians of the creed and heirs of the
\nprophets. He stressed their role in clarifying the truth, refuting doubts, and
\nprotecting the Ummah from deviation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He also
\nwarned against the danger posed by scholars allied with authorities who
\npoliticize religious knowledge to serve rulers and justify injustice. He
\ncautioned against distorting texts to serve the whims of rulers and cited
\nQuranic examples of scholars who betrayed trust and succumbed to worldly gains,
\nsuch as Balaam ibn Baawrah, the Jewish rabbis, and Qarun.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union and Its National and Humanitarian Objectives<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Dr. Omar
\nAbdul Aziz, founding member of the branch, delivered a lecture titled
\n\u201cInternational Union of Muslim Scholars \u2013 Goals and Duties,\u201d explaining that
\nthe Union is an independent scholarly body comprising scholars and thinkers
\nfrom across the Muslim world. It aims to unify scholars\u2019 efforts to serve the
\nUmmah\u2019s causes based on a balanced and inclusive methodology.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He noted
\nthat the Union was established to unify scholars\u2019 ranks, spread moderate
\nunderstanding, support the Ummah\u2019s causes, and back Muslim peoples in their
\njust struggles such as Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque, while promoting religious
\nand civilizational awareness through education and media.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Omar
\nalso addressed the circumstances surrounding the Union\u2019s formation in exile,
\nhighlighting the translation of the Union\u2019s charter into multiple languages,
\nincluding Kurdish. He emphasized strategic goals including uniting scholars\u2019
\nenergies, bridging intellectual differences, rejecting disputes, confronting
\nhostile schemes, and holding rulers accountable.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He
\nreviewed the essential duties of scholars, stressing the importance of
\nself-education, adhering to the Union\u2019s characteristics of moderation and
\nbalance, deep jurisprudential understanding, mobilizing scholars to disseminate
\nthe Union\u2019s message, while maintaining a balance between openness and
\ncommitment and fostering a sense of personal responsibility.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
