First Regular Forum of the Union\u2019s Branch in Iraqi Kurdistan

The
\nbranch of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) in the Kurdistan
\nRegion of Iraq held its first regular forum under the theme: \u201cThe International
\nUnion of Muslim Scholars \u2013 Objectives and Duties\u201d, on Saturday, July 26, 2025,
\ncorresponding to 1 Safar 1447 AH, with the participation of all IUMS members
\nfrom Kirkuk and its surrounding areas.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nforum opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur\u2019an, followed by a welcoming
\naddress delivered by Dr. Hamza Khalifa Rashid, IUMS member and head of the
\nKirkuk division of the branch.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr.
\nAhmad Wahab Majid, head of the IUMS branch in the Kurdistan Region, delivered a
\nlecture entitled: \u201cThe Righteous Scholar from a Qur\u2019anic Perspective\u201d, in which
\nhe discussed the pivotal role of scholars in guiding the Ummah and embodying
\ndivine knowledge. He emphasized that a righteous scholar is not merely a
\nspeaker but a leader who enlightens the Ummah with his knowledge, actions, and
\nethics. He strives to reform society, stand against deviation, and enjoin good
\nwhile forbidding evil with wisdom and strength.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Omar
\nAbdulaziz, a founding member of the branch, also gave a lecture entitled: \u201cThe
\nInternational Union of Muslim Scholars \u2013 Objectives and Duties\u201d. He outlined
\nthe Union\u2019s mission as an independent scholarly body that brings together
\nscholars and thinkers from across the Islamic world. He stressed the Union\u2019s
\nefforts to unify scholars\u2019 endeavors, promote a balanced understanding of
\nIslam, and advocate for the Ummah\u2019s causes, foremost among them Palestine and
\nAl-Aqsa.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

He also
\nhighlighted key duties of the Union, including mediation and reconciliation,
\nconfronting media campaigns that defame Islam and Muslims, coordinating with
\nIslamic institutions for synergy, providing academic and educational training,
\ndefending the freedoms and dignity of Muslims worldwide, and standing against
\ninjustice and tyranny.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

At the
\nconclusion of the forum, copies of the \u201cIUMS Charter\u201d were distributed to all
\nparticipants to enhance understanding of the Union\u2019s goals and the mission of
\nits scholars in serving the Ummah.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
