In the Turkish city of Istanbul,
\nthe Secretary-General of the World Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Ali Muhammad
\nAl-Sallabi, held a consultative meeting on Friday, May 1, with members of the
\nBoard of Trustees of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (\u0130HH), to discuss a
\nnumber of issues related to relief work and the coordination of humanitarian
\nefforts<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting addressed ways to
\nenhance cooperation in the humanitarian field and develop joint mechanisms of
\naction. The Secretary-General emphasized the Union\u2019s commitment to supporting
\nhumanitarian initiatives and expanding their impact in areas of need,
\ncontributing to a more effective response to worsening humanitarian conditions<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The two sides also discussed the
\nlatest developments regarding the \u201cGlobal Steadfastness Flotilla,\u201d as part of
\nfollowing up on ongoing arrangements and efforts to ensure its success, within
\nbroader endeavors to support humanitarian work and alleviate the suffering of
\nthose affected<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Global
\nSteadfastness Flotilla 2<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The ships of the \u201cGlobal
\nSteadfastness Flotilla 2\u201d initiative set sail on April 12, 2026, from the
\nSpanish city of Barcelona, in a move aimed at breaking the blockade imposed on
\nthe Gaza Strip and delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians, with the participation
\nof delegations from civil society organizations, activists, and volunteers from
\nseveral countries<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative comes after a
\nprevious attempt launched in September 2025, which ended \u2014 according to
\norganizers \u2014 after the vessels were attacked in October while sailing in
\ninternational waters, and dozens of activists were detained before deportation procedures
\nbegan<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
