Fatwa Committee of the Union Discusses Financial Corruption and

The
\nFatwa Committee of the International Union of Muslim Scholars held its regular
\nmeeting on Saturday, 9 Shawwal 1447 AH, corresponding to 28 March 2025. The
\nsession began with a blessed recitation from the Holy Qur\u2019an, followed by a
\nreview of the agenda, the opening speech by the Committee Chair, and a
\ndiscussion of the main topic concerning financial corruption and embezzlement
\nof public funds.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nCommittee Chair, Sheikh Ali Mohieddine Al-Qaradaghi, President of the Union,
\ndelivered the opening address, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues
\nthat impact the interests of the Ummah, foremost among them the safeguarding of
\npublic funds, which have a direct effect on achieving justice and societal
\nstability.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

In the
\nmain segment, Sheikh Abdelhay Youssef presented a scholarly report detailing
\nthe dangers of financial corruption and the misappropriation of public
\nresources, explaining its Shariah implications and the negative effects on
\nindividuals and communities. He also highlighted the necessity of strengthening
\nadministrative oversight by combining Shariah-based principles with effective
\npractical measures to deter wrongdoing.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nsession was chaired by Dr. Fadel Abdullah Murad, Secretary of the Committee and
\nAssistant Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars,
\nduring which committee members contributed rich scholarly interventions that
\nexplored multiple aspects of the topic, enhancing the discussion and deepening
\nunderstanding of preventive and remedial measures.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Extensive
\ndeliberations were held on the draft resolution, with members offering their
\nscholarly input, which contributed to precise formulation and comprehensive
\nconsideration of the Shariah and practical dimensions of the issue. The
\ndiscussions reaffirmed the Union\u2019s commitment to protecting public funds and
\ncondemning any violation, as such acts are considered major sins prohibited in
\nIslam.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
