The Union Organizes a Lecture in Istanbul on the Challenges of
\nGlobalization and Its Serious Impact on the Western Family<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The
\nInternational Union of Muslim Scholars, in coordination between the Family
\nCommittee and the Youth Committee, and in cooperation with the Arabic Language
\nInstitute at Al-Sharif Endowment in Istanbul, organized a distinguished lecture
\naddressing the “Challenges of Globalization Facing the Family in the
\nWest,” held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nlecture was delivered by Dr. Kamelia Hilmi Toulon, Chairwoman of the Union\u2019s
\nFamily Committee, targeting a group of male and female students from France as
\npart of an educational program offered by Al-Sharif Endowment for students of
\nknowledge from Western countries.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nlecture focused on the most prominent risks confronting the family in Western
\nsocieties, such as the spread of uncontrolled freedoms in relationships and the
\ndecline in the importance of legitimate (lawful) relationships. This, in turn,
\nplaces a heavy burden on parents to preserve family values and protect their
\nchildren from being influenced by prevailing moral and educational problems.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nlecture also addressed a controversial international treaty, the “Istanbul
\nConvention,” issued by the Council of Europe in 2011. The treaty enforces
\nabsolute equality between men and women in family and social roles, which
\ncontradicts human nature based on diversity and complementarity between the
\nsexes. Additionally, the lecture highlighted the recognition of the full
\nequality of LGBTQ+ rights, which has contributed to the spread of phenomena
\ncontrary to family values in the West.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nlecture emphasized the necessity for the family to restore its educational role
\nand to raise societal awareness about the dangers posed by such international
\nagreements that threaten family values and ethics.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nsession concluded with an open discussion focusing on the family\u2019s role in
\nprotecting children, during which a set of proposals was reached to suit
\nWestern societies in preserving the family unit and strengthening its bonds.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
