Values visit by the Prince of Qatar, considers it a courageous and historic stance
Urges Arab and Muslim world leaders to participate in breaking the siege on Gaza
The International Union of Muslim Scholars has kept an eye on the unjust siege on Gaza imposed by Israel since several years. Regrettably, the former Egyptian regime participated in this siege, lead by the former president and his aides. The siege has resulted in many tragedies and hardships ranging from death and starvation to the inability to carry out reconstruction works. Yet today, the whole world witnesses the historic visit by the Prince of Qatar Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, May he be in God’s protection. And at this occasion, the IUMS states the following:
First: Valuing the visit, considering it a courageous and historic step that bears witness to the chivalry of his highness, the Prince of Qatar, his active response to the causes of his nation, and awareness of these issues. The Union also values the prince’s prior efforts in sending fuel and gas to Gaza in addition to standing by the Gazan people throughout their plight.
Second: urges the leaders of the Arab and Muslim world to support and share such a step by the Qatari Prince to break the oppressive siege on Gaza through visits to Gaza, through sending basic humanitarian assistance, and contributing to the reconstruction of Gaza that many pledged to participate in but few fulfilled the pledge.
Third: views this visit as a sign bearing the good promise of much solidarity and cooperation to come for the people of Gaza, and even for the Arab and Muslim world. The visit also implies the return of brotherly and free will to the nation that Allah Almighty referred to in the verse as: "The believers are but brothers: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy.” (Quran 49:10) and of which Prophet Muhammad – peace and prayers be upon him - said: "The similitude of believers in their mutual love, affection, fellow-feeling is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body joins, with sleeplessness and fever.”
