Palestine: 3 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in West Bank

HEBRON, Palestine (imemc.org, AA): Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

A ministry statement said the fatality occurred in the town of Beit Ummar near Hebron city, and Israeli soldiers also killed two Palestinian siblings in Kafr Ein town, northwest of Ramallah, in the central West Bank.

Medical sources at the Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron said the soldiers shot Mohammad Mahmoud Ekhlayyil, 44, with a live round in the head.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said its medics treated 22 Palestinians injured by Israeli fire in Beit Ummar town.

According to local residents, violent clashes erupted between Israeli forces and angry Palestinians during an Israeli military raid into the town.

Israeli forces used live fire, rubber-coated bullets and tear gas canisters during the clashes, they said.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that the soldiers killed Jawad Abdul-Rahman Rimawi, 22, after shooting him with live fire in the abdomen in Kafr Ein.

The Health Ministry added that the soldiers also shot Jawad’s brother, Thafer Rimawi, 21, with a live round in the chest, causing a life-threatening injury, before he succumbed to his serious wounds

Sources at the Yasser Arafat Hospital in Ramallah said the soldiers used expanding bullets against the Palestinians, killing the two siblings and wounding several others, some seriously.

Tension has been running high across the West Bank in recent weeks amid repeated Israeli raids to detail what they say “wanted Palestinians” or to demolish Palestinian homes. The raids spark clashes with Palestinians, causing several fatalities.

Mofeed’s death brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli army fire to sixteen Palestinians, including five children.
