A Palestinian prisoner, Khader Adnan, who is a leader of the radical Palestinian group Islamic Jihad, has been on a hunger strike for more than 80 days and is being held in "difficult" conditions, according to his wife. He was arrested on 5 February by Israeli forces and placed in administrative detention without charge or trial. His wife says he is being held in the clinic of Ramla prison in central Israel and is refusing medical assistance. The Palestinian Prisoners Club has called for his release, saying his health is "very serious". The Israeli prison service has denied rumours of his death but has not commented on his health.
