The International Union of Muslim Scholars closely follows with deep sorrow the massive floods that have struck the northwestern regions of Algeria, claiming the lives of some citizens and leaving several missing.

Therefore, the Union calls upon nations, relief and charitable organizations to continue supporting financial, relief, moral, and health efforts to rescue our Algerian brothers and alleviate their suffering.

In the face of this humanitarian disaster, the Union affirms the following:

The Union offers its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of these severe floods that recently occurred in Algeria. We ask Almighty Allah to grant the victims His vast mercy, to inspire patience and solace among their families and countrymen, and to accept them among the martyrs.

The Union calls upon all relief, charitable, and health organizations, as well as people of goodness around the world, to extend a helping hand to their Algerian brethren, providing them with the assistance they are in need of.

The Union emphasizes the simultaneous duty of faith, brotherhood, and humanity, as exemplified by the Islamic teaching: "The example of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever." This duty is a response to the command of Allah Almighty for cooperation and the practice of goodness, as He says, "Help one another in righteousness and piety, but do not help one another in sin and aggression." (Quran, Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:2).

May Allah protect Algeria and all Muslim lands from calamities and tribulations. Ameen.
