President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars Embarks on Official Visit to Malaysia to Strengthen Religious and Cultural Ties

The President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi, has departed for an official visit to Malaysia at the gracious invitation of Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The visit, scheduled from July 5 to July 12, 2024, aims to bolster bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations in religious and cultural domains.

Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi received a warm welcome at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where he was greeted by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato' Seri Dr. Haji Mohd Na'im bin Haji Mokhtar, along with a large delegation of senior officials and religious affairs personnel from Malaysia.

The official visit includes several significant events and programs designed to enhance religious dialogue and cooperation, notably:

  • Global Civil Forum: Organized by the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) at Sunway Putra Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, this forum will address global civil and religious issues.

  • Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah Creed Conference: Hosted by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) at the lecture hall of the National Mosque, focusing on creed issues and promoting unity among Muslims.

  • Meeting with the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP): This session will explore avenues for joint cooperation on religious matters.

  • Special Session with Islamic Scholars and the Malaysian Islamic Da'wah Foundation (YADIM): Aimed at exchanging ideas and experiences among scholars and thinkers in the religious field.

This visit presents a vital opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Islamic institutions in religious and cultural areas, contributing to greater understanding and closeness among Muslim communities.
