The President of the Union Visits the Kurdistan Region and Delivers a Lecture on "The Authority of Scholars" and Their Role in Key Issues, Particularly "The Palestinian Cause"

On the evening of Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Professor Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, visited the Union's branch in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He was welcomed by Dr. Ahmed Wahhab Al-Banjwini, member of the Board of Trustees and head of the branch, along with several members of the Union in the region.

This visit marks an important step in strengthening the bonds between the Union and its regional branches, reflecting the President's commitment to promoting the role of knowledge and scholars within Muslim communities.

During the visit, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi delivered an academic lecture titled “The Authority and Status of Knowledge and Scholars.” He discussed the prominent role of scholars in Islamic society and their significant impact in areas of thought, politics, and social life.

He emphasized that scholars hold a leadership position in Islam, as they are entrusted with spreading reform and upholding Islamic values within society.

Dr. Al-Qaradaghi explained that scholars and leaders are essential partners in realizing reform, stressing the need for ethical and educational reforms within the community.

He also highlighted the importance of updating academic curricula and advancing applied sciences, which are fundamental pillars for the development of nations.

In his address, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi reaffirmed the crucial role of scholars in addressing the pivotal issues facing the Ummah, particularly the just cause of Palestine, which requires ongoing support.

He also spoke about the responsibility of scholars in confronting current challenges in developmental and missionary work.

Dr. Al-Qaradaghi stressed that scholars have always been, and continue to be, a primary source of good in serving Islam and Muslims, calling for increased collaboration among Islamic schools of thought in the region.

The lecture attracted a large audience of scholars and individuals interested in Islamic affairs, with approximately 70 scholars in attendance, as part of the Union's efforts in the Kurdistan Region to promote religious and cultural awareness.
