Rached Ghannouchi Sends Message from Prison Congratulating the Syrian People: “Congratulations to Proud Syria and Its Resilient People on the Victory of Their Glorious Revolution”
From behind the bars of Mornaguia Prison, Rached Ghannouchi, leader of Tunisia's Ennahda Movement, sent a heartfelt message to the Syrian people, celebrating the triumph of their revolution and the ousting of the deposed president Bashar al-Assad.
In his message, Ghannouchi stated:
"My salutations to proud Syria and its resilient people. I congratulate you on the success of your great revolution in defeating the cursed tyrant and driving him out humiliated."
He went on to express his enduring love for Syria, a bond formed during his youth as a student at Damascus University. He praised the kindness, generosity, and authenticity of its people.
Ghannouchi affirmed that, despite conspiracies, Arab revolutions are destined to prevail. He noted, “The rope of counter-revolutions is short, and the ultimate victory always belongs to the people and their aspirations for freedom and dignity.”
He concluded his message by congratulating the steadfast Syrian people and expressing hope that other Arab revolutions would soon witness similar triumphs. He remarked, “Victory awaits the other betrayed revolutions, from Tunis to Cairo.”
This message comes after Syria witnessed a historic day on December 8, with thousands celebrating the revolution's victory and the fall of the regime following a decisive siege on the capital, Damascus.
The opposition succeeded in asserting full control over the city, including strategic facilities such as the People’s Palace and the Mezzeh Military Airport.
