Membership Committee Holds Second Meeting, Concludes Review of
New Applications for Union Membership
The
Membership Committee of the International Union of Muslim Scholars held its
second meeting yesterday, Saturday, May 2, to complete the review of
applications submitted for union membership. The meeting was dedicated to
examining the remaining applications that had not been decided upon during the
previous session.
During
the meeting, the committee, chaired by H.E. Sheikh Fadl Abdullah Murad,
reviewed all outstanding files and discussed the applicants’ curricula vitae,
academic qualifications, and intellectual and scholarly contributions. This was
conducted in accordance with the approved criteria and standards, in line with
the union’s objective of attracting distinguished scholarly competencies.
Following
extensive academic deliberations and careful consultations, the committee
concluded its review of all submitted applications. It decided to recommend the
acceptance of 64 membership applications out of a total of 138, representing
applicants from 18 countries. These recommendations will be submitted to the
Board of Trustees for final approval, while a number of applications were
rejected for failing to meet the required criteria.
The
committee also recommended contacting the remaining applicants to complete
certain required data and documents, in preparation for reconsidering their
applications at a later stage in accordance with the established procedures.
