IUMS backs anti-corruption laws and measures in Turkey
All praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, God’s messenger, his family, companions and those who follow him;
It is the duty of the International Union of Muslim Scholars to praise those who do well, to point the attention of those who offend, clarify to the nation their civilizational project, and warn against the enemies of the nation. It is the duty of counsel and clarification ordained by Allah – Exalted He be – on scholars, and it is our motto at the IUMS.
Stemming from this outlook, we can say that the Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP) under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has taken successful steps in all beneficial fields; the economic, social and political, and succeeded with the help of Allah to achieve much for the great Turkish people in the areas of economic and comprehensive development, freedom and dignity, and justice and equality. One of the major and historic steps as well was his initiative for reconciliation with the Kurds, and serious efforts to end battles between the government and the Kurdistan Labor Party in a way that ends a conflict of over thirty years that caused the loss of tens of thousands of victims, and wasted hundreds of billions of dollars on killing and destruction instead of building and construction.
In addition, one of its main achievements was the keen attempt to link laws to the beliefs of the Turkish people and their pure disposition, prevent ethical corruption and restrict all that may destroy society of drugs and alcoholic drinks based on gradual laws, not to mention the honorable stances of the Erdogan government in Somalia, Syria, Iraq, and regarding other causes of the Muslim nation and just, humanitarian issues.
In view of these – and other – great achievements, the IUMS can only but value and salute these steps, and pray for those who have taken them and contributed to them to be granted more Godspeed and farsightedness. Hence, the IUMS:
1- Calls the Turkish people to unite around these great achievements, protect them, to never forsake them, and never leave a chance for those who are tempted to cloud the atmosphere, and hamper progress out of envy and spite, for this is the responsibility of the Turkish people not to allow corruptors to return to corruption once more.
2- Calls the opposition minority to respect the opinion of the majority of the Turkish people by holding back from
destroying public property of the state and individuals, avoiding being dragged along with foreign conspiracies plotted against Turkey due to its honorable stances regarding the causes of its fellow Muslim nation and as a price for their courageous stands. But let those know that God’s universal rules and past experiences ordain that the truth always wins, oppression is always defeated, that the fallout of siding with the enemies is regret and loss, and that only sincerity, purity, justice and loyalty persist {For the scum disappears like froth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth.} [Quran 13:17] and {Soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!} [Quran 26:227].
3- The union warns Muslim nations and points their attention to the plots of the enemies of progress, freedom and welfare for this nation that lie in: causing the legitimate state to fail through unlimited foreign support and enticing blind consciences internally to stir unrest and turmoil, so the path of progress and welfare will come to a halt, and the Muslim nation would remain fragmented and backwardly in order to be easily lead by its enemies and so that its riches will remain a loot for those colonialists and lurkers. But the awakening of the Muslim nation, including the great Turkish people, suffices to prove their estimates false, and bring failure to their plots as the Muslim nation has awoken from its slumber and risen from its stumble relying on Allah who will not fail them {They plot and plan, and Allah plans; but the best of planners is Allah.} [Quran 8:30], and {Allah will certainly aid those who aid His cause; for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will).} [Quran 22:40].
