Al-Qaradaghi Condemns Escalating Aggressions Against Islamic Sanctities in India: "Systematic Bullying Threatens Social Fabric"

Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, has expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of aggression targeting Islam and its sanctities in India. He warned against the systematic campaigns of harassment targeting Muslims and their religious symbols, describing this as a dangerous trend that could unravel the country’s social fabric.

In a tweet on his account on the "X" platform (formerly Twitter), Dr. Al-Qaradaghi highlighted a recent incident in Uttarkashi, where police clashed with Hindu protesters attempting to demolish a mosque under the claim of "illegal construction." He stated that this incident reveals entrenched biases that foster division and fuel hate speech.

Al-Qaradaghi emphasized that mosques are not mere structures but sanctuaries of worship and peace, and attacks on them constitute a clear violation of the rights of Muslim minorities, who deserve legal protections in their communities.

He further noted that these recurrent assaults underscore a growing culture of hate speech and marginalization, jeopardizing social harmony.

In closing, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi reiterated that Muslims seek respect for their sacred sites as part of their fundamental right to practice their faith freely, calling for adherence to rule of law grounded in justice and equality.

The incident has sparked a wave of reactions across social media, with many users voicing concern over the rising hatred against Muslims in India. Anti-Muslim sentiment has notably intensified since Narendra Modi’s party came to power in 2014.
