Qatar Launches “Prophetic Legacy” International Hadith
Memorization Competition

The
Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar has launched the first
edition of the international “Prophetic Legacy” competition for the
memorization of the Prophet’s Hadith, in a step aimed at strengthening
adherence to the Prophetic Sunnah and promoting its values among youth
worldwide.

During a
press conference held today, the Ministry affirmed that the launch of the
competition comes as part of its ongoing efforts to serve the Prophetic Sunnah
and instill love for the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
in the hearts of younger generations. This aligns with its vision of caring for
the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah, and supporting educational and scholarly
initiatives that contribute to building a generation aware of the objectives
and values of Islam.

Global
Expansion of Qatari Initiatives

The
Ministry explained that the competition is an extension of the local “Young
Muhaddith” initiative, expanded this year to include participants from around
the world, thereby enhancing the global presence of Qatari initiatives in
serving the Prophetic Sunnah.

The
competition falls within the strategy of the Department of Da’wah and Religious
Guidance, which aims to revive the Sunnah, encourage the memorization,
understanding, and application of Hadith, and reinforce Islamic moral values.

Educational
Vision

The
competition aims to spread the Sunnah and encourage adherence to it through
memorization, understanding its meanings, and applying its teachings. It also
seeks to discover talents in Hadith sciences and build a balanced generation
aware of the objectives of Islamic Sharia.

The
competition is divided into two main levels: Gold and Silver, and includes two
categories—one focusing on memorizing the book “Al-Muntaqa fi Al-Ahkam
Al-Shar‘iyyah”, and the other on memorizing “Riyadh Al-Salihin” by Imam
Al-Nawawi.

Prizes
and Competition Stages

The
Ministry has allocated major financial prizes, with the first-place winner in
the first category receiving QAR 200,000, with prizes distributed down to tenth
place. In the second category, prizes reach up to QAR 120,000 for first place.

The
competition consists of two stages: preliminary rounds conducted remotely via
video communication, followed by the qualification of top contestants to the
final in-person stage in Qatar, where winners will be ranked before a public
judging panel.

A Global
Platform

Mr.
Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Department of Da’wah and Religious
Guidance, stated that the competition represents a global platform to
strengthen youth engagement with the Prophetic Sunnah and reflects Qatar’s
commitment to religious and scholarly initiatives that promote moderation and
balance.

He noted
that the name “Prophetic Legacy” is derived from the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: “Scholars are the heirs of the prophets,”
reflecting the competition’s mission to prepare a generation that carries this
legacy in knowledge, practice, and conduct.

The
Ministry invited those interested from around the world to register through the
official website between September 1 and October 31.
