police issue deportation orders against Kamal Khatib and Raed Salah from
Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Israeli occupation police
issued deportation orders preventing the head of the Freedoms Committee in the
Palestinian interior Sheikh Kamal Khatib, and the head of the outlawed Islamic
Movement inside the Green Line Sheikh Raed Salah, from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque
for one week, with expectations that the decision may be extended to six months.

Sheikh Kamal Khatib explained
that the summons began with a phone call from a woman who introduced herself as
a police officer. When he asked to verify her identity, she responded harshly
and threatened him with arrest.

He added that Sheikh Raed Salah
was also summoned, and arrangements were made with lawyers for them to attend
the police station in Nazareth instead of Jerusalem.

Khatib described these measures
as reflecting the “arrogance” of the establishment, noting that his exclusion
from Al-Aqsa is presented as a security threat, while settler incursions and
restrictions imposed on worshippers are not treated in the same way. He
expressed confidence that this phase will eventually come to an end.

For his part, Sheikh Raed Salah
confirmed that he had received an order banning him from entering Al-Aqsa
Mosque, stressing that Al-Aqsa is a purely Islamic right for Muslims, and that
the Islamic Waqf Council is the authority responsible for it. He considered the
justifications for the ban to be baseless.

Legally, the lawyer accompanying
both sheikhs condemned these measures, describing the summons as
“reprehensible,” and stating that the justification by the Israeli occupation
police that their presence poses a threat to public order is “illogical.” He affirmed
that the natural state is for Muslims to be present in Al-Aqsa Mosque, not
prevented from it.

He added that around one thousand
deportation orders have been issued from Al-Aqsa since Ramadan, some of them
based merely on social media posts, while criticizing the full protection
provided to settlers during their incursions into the mosque and their
performance of Talmudic rituals in its courtyards.

Sheikh Kamal Khatib concluded by
emphasizing that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a purely Islamic right for Muslims,
expressing optimism about relief soon, saying: “We are closer to relief, God
willing.”
