Al-Quds: Calls to Make Pilgrimage to Al-Aqsa on Last Friday of
Ramadan Despite Restrictions

In
Al-Quds, calls are growing for Palestinians to make pilgrimage to the Al-Aqsa
Mosque on the last Friday of Ramadan, to pray as close as possible to its
courtyards or at its gates, amid continued restrictions imposed by Israeli
authorities on access to the holy site.

Palestinian
organizers in Al-Quds emphasized that the continued closure of Al-Aqsa or
restrictions on entry require a broad popular presence in its vicinity. They
urged Palestinians to head to the Old City and maintain vigil at the mosque’s
gates, praying in nearby squares and streets if access is denied.

These
calls come as the last ten nights of Ramadan begin, a period during which tens
of thousands of worshippers usually flock to Al-Aqsa to observe the holy
nights, perform prayers, and engage in spiritual retreat within its courtyards.

Experts
on Al-Quds affairs said that praying at the gates or in the surrounding areas
of Al-Aqsa sends a clear message of steadfastness and rejection of attempts to
alter the status of the holy mosque. They affirmed that the pilgrimage to
Al-Aqsa will continue despite closures and restrictions.

All eyes
are on the last Friday of Ramadan, which is expected to see large gatherings of
worshippers in the Old City and around Al-Aqsa, reflecting Palestinians’
commitment to their right to pray at the first Qibla and the third holiest site
in Islam.
