This noteworthy visit was commissioned and orchestrated by the Union's Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi.
Upon arrival, Sheikh Fadl was cordially received by both the President and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Muslims, situated at the Council's headquarters within the heart of Ethiopia. In a comprehensive statement, Sheikh Fadl encapsulated his constructive optimism pertaining to the ongoing socio-religious landscape. It came in the wake of a regrettable dispute over mosque demolition, which had inadvertent, far-reaching repercussions. However, in a reassuring confirmation, he relayed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's commitment to not just ameliorating the situation, but spearheading the construction of Africa's largest mosque and ensuring allocation of dedicated lands to all other mosques.
In a subsequent phase of this outreach, the Union's Secretary-General is slated for a visit to Ethiopia. His visit aims to convey profound gratitude to the Prime Minister for his demonstrable attention to the Muslim community. Furthermore, he is scheduled to meet with the Supreme Council for Muslims in Ethiopia to gain firsthand insight into their circumstances, and more broadly, the status of the Muslim community.
