Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars Welcomes Serbia’s Mufti and High-Level Delegation

Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi, Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), along with Sheikh Fazl Murad, Assistant Secretary-General, hosted a high-level delegation from the Republic of Serbia.

The delegation was led by Sheikh Senad Khaldović, the Grand Mufti of Serbia, President of the Islamic Community, and a member of the IUMS, accompanied by Sheikh Muhammad Demirović, Mufti of the Sandžak Region, and Sheikh Muhammad Zilkic, Mufti of Central Serbia.

Strengthening Ties

Dr. Al-Sallabi expressed his gratitude for the visit, emphasizing its significance in reinforcing the strong ties between the IUMS and Serbia’s religious institutions.

Sheikh Khaldović thanked the IUMS for its warm reception and highlighted Serbia’s progress in promoting religious freedoms. He noted that Muslims in Serbia enjoy recognized rights, including Islamic schools and political representation through Muslim parties and ministers.

Promoting Cooperation

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the IUMS and Serbia’s religious institutions. Discussions revolved around joint efforts to propagate moderate Islamic thought and support educational and advocacy projects.

The delegation shared their efforts in translating several works of IUMS scholars into Serbian to promote Islamic awareness and moderation.

Visionary Projects

Sheikh Fazl Murad presented the IUMS’s comprehensive civilizational project, which addresses contemporary issues through a scientifically integrated vision involving scholars from various Islamic schools of thought. He stated that the project is in its final stages and will serve as a model reflecting the IUMS’s mission.

Gifts of Knowledge

At the conclusion of the meeting, the IUMS presented the delegation with a selection of publications authored by the Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General as a gesture to strengthen mutual cooperation.
