Dr. Kamelia Helmy: Waves of Extreme Feminism Target the Family and Aim to Fragment Society (Video)
Dr. Kamelia Helmy, member of the Board of Trustees and head of the Family Committee at the International Union of Muslim Scholars, has warned about the increasing risks posed by extreme feminist movements on family structure and cohesion.
She pointed out that this movement follows two main paths to undermine the family institution. The first involves discouraging young people from marriage, which hinders the formation of new families and threatens future generations. The second path seeks to destabilize existing families by undermining the role of men as a fundamental pillar within the family.
Dr. Helmy stated, "We are facing a powerful wave aimed at dismantling the family from its roots, beginning with steering young people away from marriage, thereby disrupting the continuity of family formation in the future."
She added that there are systematic efforts to destabilize the structure of existing families and dismantle their fundamental roles, particularly the role of men as leaders of the family. She questioned the objections to having a leader responsible for decision-making within the family unit.
Family Committee Efforts
Regarding the efforts of the Family Committee in this matter, Dr. Helmy explained that the committee has organized several events and awareness activities, including interactive seminars with scholars and thinkers to strengthen their roles in protecting the family.
Dr. Helmy has also delivered lectures on "Family and the Challenges of Globalization" at institutions such as the University of Tripoli in Lebanon and the Imam Malik International Academy of Sciences in Istanbul. She participated in television programs where she discussed the dangers facing the family unit due to certain international agreements related to women, children, and development. Additionally, she has written articles in prominent magazines to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the family institution in Muslim societies.
