On Sunday, November 10, 2024, Professor Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, participated in the 11th International Forum on Endowment Jurisprudence Issues held in Istanbul, Turkey, under the theme “Emerging Issues and Shariah Foundations.”
The forum was organized under the patronage of the Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation, in cooperation with the International Islamic Charitable Organization and the Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs.
The opening session witnessed significant attendance from scholars, specialized researchers, and representatives of the organizing and host country entities. Dr. Al-Qaradaghi delivered a keynote speech in which he emphasized the importance of Islamic endowments in building Islamic civilization.
He pointed out that endowments in various fields—scientific, social, developmental, and health—have greatly contributed to the advancement of Islamic society, with 67 types of endowments reflecting the role of endowment as a key source in the renaissance of Islamic civilization by the grace of Allah.
He praised Kuwait's efforts in reviving and developing endowments, especially since the establishment of the Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation in 1993, which has launched major initiatives to promote this concept and organize the Endowment Jurisprudence Issues Forum, now in its 11th edition.
In concluding his speech, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi thanked Dr. Khaled Al-Mathkour and the forum organizers, proposing the creation of a “Global Endowment Bank” and an International Endowment Organization, in addition to establishing a university specializing in endowment sciences to foster and develop young scientific talents in this vital field.
