The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) Extends Condolences on the Passing of Ustadh Yusuf Nada: “The Loss of a Remarkable Figure Who Influenced Politics, Economics, and Da’wah”

The International Union of Muslim Scholars mourns the passing of the esteemed scholar, prominent businessman, and former International Relations Commissioner of the Muslim Brotherhood, Ustadh Yusuf Nada, who passed away at the age of 94.

The late Yusuf Nada was a towering figure from Egypt, known for his pioneering roles in diplomacy, politics, and economics. His life of dedication and service has left an indelible mark on the Islamic world.

A Life of Unforgettable Contributions

Yusuf Nada was born on May 17, 1931, as the fourth child among eleven siblings. He grew up in a distinguished Egyptian family owning a dairy farm and factory.

He completed his primary and secondary education at Al-Ramliyah School before enrolling at the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University. During his university years, he was an active member of the student union.

Influenced by the vision of Imam Hassan Al-Banna, Yusuf Nada joined the Muslim Brotherhood in 1947. He rose to prominence within the organization, becoming one of its most influential leaders.

In 1951, he participated in the struggle against British colonial forces during the Suez Crisis. His activism led to his arrest in 1954 following the Manshiyya incident. Though released two years later, he endured ongoing security restrictions, prompting him to migrate to Libya in 1960. There, King Idris Al-Senussi granted him Libyan citizenship in recognition of his contributions.

Economic Leadership and Unwavering Resilience

Yusuf Nada left a significant legacy in the economic sphere, founding Nada International Company in Riyadh in 1974 and establishing the Al-Taqwa Financial Network in 1988.

Despite facing severe challenges, including unjust accusations after the 9/11 attacks, he successfully defended his reputation. In 2009, the United Nations Security Council officially cleared his name, removing him from its terrorism list.

A Legacy to Inspire Generations

The life of Yusuf Nada was a source of inspiration, combining religious devotion, economic innovation, and political activism. He left behind a rich legacy of initiatives and achievements that will continue to benefit future generations.

His renowned book, “Inside the Muslim Brotherhood”, and his insightful media appearances offer invaluable lessons in perseverance, sacrifice, and dedication.

With his passing, the Muslim Ummah has lost an exceptional figure who dedicated his life to serving Islam and promoting justice and peace.

We pray that Allah (SWT) bestows His infinite mercy upon Yusuf Nada, grants him the highest ranks in Paradise, and blesses his family, loved ones, and followers with patience and solace during this difficult time.

“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.”
