The International Union of Muslim Scholars Offers Condolences on the Passing of Sheikh Jalilullah Mawlawi Zada, One of Afghanistan and the Muslim World’s Distinguished Scholars

With hearts full of faith in Allah's decree, the International Union of Muslim Scholars extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the entire Muslim Ummah on the passing of one of its eminent scholars, the esteemed Sheikh Jalilullah Mawlawi Zada. The scholar passed away in the city of Herat, in Afghanistan’s Herat Province.

Sheikh Jalilullah Mawlawi Zada, may Allah have mercy on him, was a beacon of knowledge and a symbol of the devoted scholar who dedicated his life to spreading Islamic knowledge and calling to Allah. He exemplified the sincere, practicing scholar who enriched the fields of knowledge and da'wah with his noble contributions.

The Journey of a Distinguished Scholar

The late scholar, may Allah have mercy on him, was a graduate of Darul Uloom Deoband, a renowned institution in the Indian subcontinent. His illustrious academic journey included the founding of a major Islamic school in the city of Herat, which became a hub for students of knowledge. Through his wise administration, he minimized reliance on external aid, turning the institution into a model of independence and sustainability. His children and students continue his blessed scholarly mission to this day.

Sheikh Mawlawi Zada left an indelible mark in the fields of education, da'wah, and personal development. He trained generations of scholars and students who carried his knowledge to various parts of the world. Furthermore, he played a pioneering role in educating women, firmly believing in the importance of knowledge for building society.

A Legacy of Noble Stances

Sheikh Mawlawi Zada, may Allah have mercy on him, was known for his courage, sincerity, and dedication. He participated in the jihad against the Soviet occupation and played a significant role during this critical period of Afghanistan's history. He also served as the Minister of Education during one of the mujahideen government’s terms, demonstrating wisdom and insight in managing educational affairs.

Bidding Farewell to a Beacon of the Ummah

In this great loss, the International Union of Muslim Scholars offers its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late scholar, his devoted students, the scholars of the Ummah, and the people of Afghanistan.

We ask Allah Almighty to accept Sheikh Mawlawi Zada into His vast mercy, to grant him the highest place in Paradise alongside the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. We also pray that Allah grants patience and solace to his family and loved ones, and that He compensates the Muslim Ummah for the loss of this distinguished scholar.

"Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156)
