Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi in Oman to Offer Condolences to Sheikh Ahmed Al-Khalili on the Passing of His Wife
His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, extended his heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman and Vice President of the Union, on the passing of his wife in the early hours of Thursday, January 9, 2025, after a battle with illness.
In a sincere fraternal gesture, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi traveled to Oman today, Sunday, to personally offer his condolences on behalf of himself, his deputies, the General Secretariat, the members of the Union, and all its bodies, to Sheikh Al-Khalili, his sons, and his esteemed family.
Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi expressed his sincere prayers, asking Almighty Allah to envelop the deceased with His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant her a place in His expansive paradise, and provide patience and solace to her family and loved ones.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili is considered the leading Islamic jurisprudence authority in Oman. He was nurtured and educated by prominent scholars and progressed through various religious positions until being appointed Grand Mufti of the Sultanate in 1975.
He also holds prominent roles, including the presidency of the Sultan Qaboos Center for Islamic Culture and membership in several global Islamic institutions.
Sheikh Al-Khalili has enriched Islamic literature with significant works in interpretation and jurisprudence, including Jawahir Al-Tafsir (Jewels of Interpretation) and Al-Haqq Al-Damigh (The Crushing Truth). He has also contributed to Islamic thought and ijtihad, with a strong presence in local media and at jurisprudential and cultural forums throughout the Arab world.
