The International Union of Muslim Scholars Launches the Fifth Edition of “Al-Quds International Week”

This week comes amidst the cessation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, where the Palestinian people have demonstrated miraculous resilience—by the grace of Allah—in facing continuous aggression and the severe conditions they endure, particularly after the mass extermination and destruction caused by the brutal Zionist attacks. These attacks have targeted civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, along with essential life necessities such as food, medicine, water, and electricity, among others.

As we live through this decisive moment, with the people of Gaza steadfastly holding onto their land despite all challenges, and on the anniversary of the Isra and Mi’raj, as well as Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi’s liberation of Jerusalem, the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS)—including its leadership, secretariat, and board of trustees—today launches the activities of the fifth edition of "Al-Quds International Week."

This week extends from Thursday, 23rd Rajab 1446 AH (corresponding to 23rd January 2025) to Thursday, 30th Rajab 1446 AH (corresponding to 30th January 2025), under the slogan: “Al-Quds and Gaza: A Trust of the Nation.”

Responsibilities of the Muslim Ummah

The Islamic and Arab nation, in all its components, sects, scholars, intellectuals, institutions, and organizations, bears a significant responsibility to support Gaza, Jerusalem, and the Palestinian cause at large.

Call to Action

We invite everyone to actively participate in commemorating "Al-Quds International Week" through the following initiatives:

  1. Continuing Support for the People of Gaza: Mobilizing all available resources to assist the people of Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid.
  2. Standing with the Palestinians: Supporting the stationed men and women at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the detainees, and all oppressed Palestinians in every way possible.
  3. Appealing to Islamic Ministries and Institutions: Urging ministries of religious affairs, scholarly associations, advocacy groups, and Islamic organizations to adopt and promote the activities of the week.
  4. Spreading Awareness through Media: Publishing and broadcasting content across various platforms in multiple languages to strengthen public awareness of the Palestinian cause.
  5. Allocating Friday Sermons: Dedicating the Friday sermons on 24th and 31st Rajab 1446 AH (corresponding to 24th and 31st January 2025) to address Al-Aqsa Mosque, its rights, and its significance.
  6. Hosting Events: Organizing both physical and virtual activities via Zoom to mark the occasion and participate in the campaign in the most appropriate manner.

Expression of Gratitude and Commitment

Finally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone working to make these initiatives successful. We call upon Allah Almighty to guide our Ummah back to its religion and unify its ranks to face its adversaries.

We also reaffirm the necessity of continuing to support the Palestinian people's resistance against aggression and fostering solidarity with them wherever they are. Allah is our source of help and guidance.

May Allah bless you all and grant you success in all your efforts for the betterment of the Ummah.

With peace and blessings,

  • Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Sallabi (Secretary-General)
  • Dr. Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi (President)

Doha, 23rd Rajab 1446 AH
Corresponding to 23rd January 2025
