The death of the Syrian Islamic preacher and thinker, 'Issam al-Attar', at the age of 97.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Issam al-Attar, the renowned Islamic preacher and thinker, and the former General Supervisor of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria. Mr. al-Attar passed away at the age of 97 in the city of Aachen, Germany.

In the early hours of Friday, his family released a statement through his official page, which read: "Our father, Issam al-Attar, passed away tonight (the night of Friday, 23 Shawwal 1445 AH, May 3, 2024 AD). May God envelop him in His mercy and pleasure.

He asks for your forgiveness and prayers for his pardon and a blessed end." The family's obituary included Mr. al-Attar's last words: "Farewell, my brothers and sisters, my sons and daughters, my family, and my fellow countrymen.

I entrust you to God, whose trust is never lost. I entrust to God your religion, your trust, and the outcomes of your deeds. I pray to God Almighty to assist you in every duty and good, to protect you from all danger and evil, and to relieve you from every distress, affliction, and hardship.

May God have mercy on Issam al-Attar and grant him a place in His vast gardens, and may He provide patience and consolation to his family and loved ones in their loss.

To God we belong, and to Him we shall return."
