Moscow, Russia - Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, delivered a keynote address at the 20th World Islamic Forum, held from September 20 to 22, 2023. The forum was organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and focused on the theme "The Path to Peace: Dialogue as a Basis for Harmonious Coexistence."

The event marked the 30th anniversary of the Spiritual Administration and the Moscow Islamic Institute, as well as the 40th anniversary of the leadership of Mufti Sheikh Rawil Gainutdin.

The forum saw high-profile attendance, including Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan, representatives from the Russian government, and ambassadors from various Islamic nations, along with ministers and religious leaders from 62 Islamic countries.

In his opening address, Sheikh Qaradaghi highlighted critical issues facing the Muslim community, including the Palestinian cause and the situation in Gaza. He underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and coexistence as foundational elements for achieving peace and stability.

Sheikh Qaradaghi expressed gratitude to the Russian government for its supportive stance on the Palestinian issue and its commitment to family values, while condemning the moral decline observed in international responses to humanitarian crises.

He called for the unification of Muslims as a necessary step towards promoting universal principles of justice, compassion, and equality. "We must present a comprehensive civilizational project that focuses on shared humanitarian values and principles," he stated.

Additionally, he emphasized the significance of constructive dialogue, urging religious institutions and scholars to prioritize collaboration over division, and to work towards mutual understanding.

In conclusion, Sheikh Qaradaghi reaffirmed the role of Muslims as advocates for peace and justice, urging a collective effort to counter oppression and foster a more just world.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars remains committed to supporting these objectives through dialogue and cooperation, aiming for a harmonious coexistence among all communities.
