Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, participated in the 21st expanded meeting of the Board of Directors of the European Islamic Forum, held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, via video conferencing (Zoom).
Key Highlights of the Meeting
The meeting began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a review of the forum’s annual activities and discussions on proposals such as organizing a global summit for Palestine. The participants also addressed the ongoing situation in Syria.
Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi’s Address
As a guest speaker, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi delivered a speech highlighting the tragic situation in Gaza. He stressed that this situation starkly reveals the failure of the long-promoted international and humanitarian principles, underscoring a complete deterioration in global values and ethics.
He observed that the current phase is marked by a lack of stability in fundamental beliefs, the disintegration of family structures, and threats to innate human nature (fitrah).
In response to these challenges, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi emphasized the necessity of returning to Islam, which offers consistent and clear principles of belief and provides humanity with a comprehensive understanding of the universe and God’s purposes in creation.
He called on Muslims worldwide to present the values of mercy, justice, and equality as ordained by God to both the East and the West. He also stressed the importance of rejecting any ideologies that contradict the rights and dignity of human beings.
A Comprehensive Approach to Family and Human Nature
Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi elaborated on Islam’s holistic approach to safeguarding the family and preserving human nature. He underscored the importance of addressing issues that directly affect humanity and its moral compass.
Call to Action
Concluding his speech, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi urged for greater cooperation between the Muslim Ummah and international organizations to disseminate these values. He called for strengthening unity among Muslims and directing collective efforts to address the major challenges facing the world today.
