Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi Congratulates the Muslim Ummah on Ceasefire, Highlights Gaza's Resilience, and Calls for Reconstruction and Relief

In a tweet on his account on the "X" platform today, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Sheikh Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, congratulated the Muslim Ummah, especially the people of Gaza, on the ceasefire agreement that ended the Zionist aggression. The aggression caused widespread suffering and unspeakable acts of genocide, undermining ethical and legal principles globally.

Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi praised the steadfastness of Gaza’s people despite the severe challenges and difficulties they faced. He emphasized that their courage and resilience in defending their legitimate rights exposed the Zionist regime's failures, leaving it with no achievements beyond destruction and killing.

He stated, “Gaza did not succumb; instead, it upheld the divine directive: ‘So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if you are [true] believers.’ (Al Imran: 139)." He described Gaza as a stage of heroic epics, witnessing extraordinary perseverance and near-miraculous endurance.

Dr. Al-Qaradaghi called for intensified efforts in providing consolation, generosity, and support for reconstruction and humanitarian relief. He expressed hope that the Muslim Ummah would unite and rally together to rebuild Gaza and alleviate the suffering of its people. He urged that all resources be directed towards aiding the afflicted and shaping a brighter future characterized by justice, dignity, and complete liberation.

He also lauded the sincere efforts to halt the Zionist aggression, particularly commending Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his team. He acknowledged the vital role played under the guidance of Qatar’s Amir, who has consistently defended the Palestinian cause and called for ending the aggression.

Dr. Al-Qaradaghi concluded with a prayer for success and blessings for all initiatives aimed at promoting peace, justice, and welfare.

Ceasefire Announcement

On the 467th day of the war on Gaza, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, announced the successful negotiation of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The agreement, facilitated by mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, is set to commence on Sunday, January 19, 2025. It includes provisions for Hamas to release 33 detainees in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel.

The details of subsequent phases of the agreement will be determined after the successful implementation of the first phase.

Israeli media confirmed the prisoner exchange agreement, while Hamas officials, led by Khalil Al-Hayya, conveyed their approval of the ceasefire and the exchange terms to Qatari and Egyptian mediators through Al Jazeera.
