IUMS Secretary-General: "The Resistance’s Resilience Marks a Historic Victory and Revives Hope Among Oppressed Nations"

Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi, the Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), emphasized that the ceasefire in Gaza, which took effect today, represents a historic victory for the Palestinian resistance, achieved through their steadfastness and strategic planning.

Al-Sallabi highlighted the political and moral significance of this development, which underscores the Palestinian people's and resistance forces' ability to confront the occupation and secure tangible gains despite immense challenges.

Key Achievements of the Palestinian Resistance

Dr. Al-Sallabi noted that during this confrontation, the Palestinian resistance succeeded in establishing new paradigms, including:

  • Equivalence in response: Effectively retaliating to aggression.
  • Strategic impact: Demonstrating the ability to significantly affect the occupation, thereby altering the balance of power in favor of Palestinian resilience.

He further emphasized that the Israeli occupation failed to achieve its declared military and political objectives during the recent aggression.

Solidarity and Global Impact

Dr. Al-Sallabi stated that the recent conflict strengthened public solidarity around the resistance and united Palestinians both within and outside Gaza. Additionally, it mobilized widespread international sympathy for the Palestinian cause.

He praised the crucial role played by media platforms and social networks, which amplified the Palestinian voice and exposed the magnitude of Israeli aggression. This, in turn, prompted some nations to reconsider their positions and openly criticize the occupation.

Acknowledging Qatar’s Support

Dr. Al-Sallabi commended the pivotal role of Qatar on various levels:

  1. Documenting Israeli crimes.
  2. Leading diplomatic efforts to halt the aggression.
  3. Providing humanitarian aid to Gaza's affected populations.

He asserted that Qatar’s support significantly bolstered Palestinian resilience.

A Symbol of Hope for Oppressed Nations

"Ceasefire is not merely the end of a round of aggression; it is a testament to the resistance’s ability to defend Palestinian rights and an inspiration for oppressed nations worldwide that victory over injustice is possible," said Dr. Al-Sallabi.

He called on the Arab and Islamic worlds, as well as global advocates for justice, to continue supporting the Palestinian people, especially in overcoming challenges such as the siege, reconstruction, and national reconciliation.

Celebration of Victory in Gaza

As the ceasefire took effect, thousands of Palestinians took to Gaza’s streets to celebrate, affirming their triumph and steadfastness in the face of Israeli military aggression. They reiterated their commitment to ongoing struggle until full liberation is achieved.

Devastating Toll of Aggression

Backed by U.S. support, Israel launched a campaign of genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023. This aggression resulted in over 157,000 casualties, the majority being children and women, along with more than 11,000 missing persons. The attacks caused widespread destruction and famine, claiming the lives of many children and elderly individuals, marking one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in modern history.
