He completed his primary education at Al-Najat School from 1945 to 1950, and his secondary education at the Sharia Secondary School (Khusrowiyya) in Aleppo from 1950 to 1955. He also studied at the College of Law from 1962 to 1964. Though he did not complete his graduate studies in Egypt due to personal circumstances, he earned a Master's degree from the Islamic University in Pakistan.

Dr. Al-Batal taught Islamic education in Aleppo's high schools for twenty years before moving to King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, where he taught in the College of Arts, Department of Islamic Studies, for another twenty years. He also delivered sermons in Jeddah's mosques and hosted two radio programs on Quran Radio. He authored "Heroes of Islam in the Eternal Prophetic Procession," a five-volume work published by Dar Noor Al-Maktabat for Publishing and Distribution in 1423 AH - 2002 AD. The book, introduced by poets Omar Bahaa Al-Din Al-Amiri and Mohamed Ali Al-Maghribi, compiles radio talks he broadcasted on Quran Radio in Mecca in a weekly program titled "From the Heroes of Islam" for eight years.

On this sorrowful occasion, the International Union of Muslim Scholars extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to his esteemed family and to the entire Muslim Ummah. We ask Almighty Allah to forgive him, have mercy on him, bestow His vast mercy upon him, pardon him, reward him abundantly, honor his abode, admit him to the highest paradise, and resurrect him with the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. How excellent are those companions.

We also pray that Allah grants patience and solace to his family, loved ones, and colleagues. Indeed, He is the Best Guardian and the Best Responder.
