“My Life and Journey” – Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi Documents
Early Years in a Scholarly Journey Spanning Over 70 Years
His
Eminence Sheikh Prof. Dr. Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the
International Union of Muslim Scholars, has announced the release of his new
book titled “My Life and Journey: Pages from Memory (Beginnings and
Foundations)”, in which he presents the essence of a scholarly and human
journey spanning more than seventy years, documenting the formative stages and
early beginnings of his pursuit of knowledge.
This
publication comes after years of reluctance to write an autobiography, stemming
from a scholarly and educational approach rooted in humility and prioritizing
action over self-narration. However, persistent requests from students and
researchers, along with a series of media interviews and academic programs,
prompted him to record and document this experience for future generations.
The book
recounts the early features of the author’s life, starting from his upbringing
and memorization of the Holy Qur’an, through his pursuit of Islamic knowledge
and formal education, to his academic distinction in Iraq, and later his
scholarly journey to Al-Azhar, which marked a significant milestone in his
academic path.
It also
highlights the intellectual and formative transformations that accompanied this
journey, illustrating how his scholarly and intellectual framework was built
through progressive stages of learning, grounding, and practice.
This
book represents the first part of his autobiography, to be followed by a second
volume that will cover the subsequent phases of his academic and intellectual
journey, as part of a comprehensive documentation project aimed at conveying
his experience in all its dimensions to students and those interested.
The
publication is expected to attract significant attention in scholarly and
intellectual circles, given its documentary value in presenting the experience
of one of the most prominent contemporary scholars in the Muslim world.
The book
is currently in preparation for printing and is expected to be released soon.
