“The Quranic Methodology for the
Advancement of Humanity”.. Al-Qaradaghi Presents a Comprehensive Quranic Vision
for Addressing the Ummah’s Crises and Building Civilization
**Al-Qaradaghi:
The Ummah Declined When the Balance Between Faith and Civilization Was Lost**
His Eminence Prof.
Dr. Ali Mohieddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim
Scholars, launched his new book, “The Quranic Methodology for the Advancement
of Humanity,” during the Cultural Salon activities at the 35th Doha International
Book Fair, in the presence of a distinguished gathering of scholars,
intellectuals, and visitors to the exhibition.
During the launch
session, Al-Qaradaghi explained that the book addresses two central questions.
The first introduces the fundamental principles of Islam, while the second
focuses on the Quranic methodology for achieving balance between stewardship
and worship, worldly and eternal happiness, and the excellence of the Muslim
Ummah. This, he noted, is realized through combining comprehensive and
authentic religiosity — both inwardly and outwardly — with human civilization
founded upon construction, creativity, and innovation.
He further stated
that the book examines the intellectual imbalances that affected the Muslim
Ummah across different historical stages, eventually turning into a culture
that pushed the nation toward decline and backwardness. In contrast, the book
presents what he described as remedies drawn from the “pharmacy of Islam.”
During the
discussion session, Al-Qaradaghi stressed that the Islamic world is facing deep
and multiple crises, foremost among them division and severe fragmentation that
have even extended to preachers and Islamic movements, in addition to
widespread problems of underdevelopment, poverty, unemployment, and disease
affecting many Muslim countries.
He noted that the
book seeks to answer the most critical question concerning the causes behind
the weakness and decline of the Muslim Ummah despite the Quran’s testimony to
its excellence. He explained that during the era of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Ummah adhered to a
comprehensive Quranic methodology that harmonized the light of revelation with
the light of reason, thereby fulfilling humanity’s supreme purpose of
stewardship on earth.
Al-Qaradaghi added
that this methodology is built upon two balanced pillars: the first is sound
and complete religiosity that unites the outward and inward dimensions of
faith, while the second is beneficial civilization based on innovation,
creativity, and nation-building. He emphasized that the disruption of this
balance has been among the foremost causes of the civilizational decline
experienced by the Ummah today.
At the conclusion of
the launch event, His Eminence signed a large number of copies of his book for
scholars, students of knowledge, and exhibition visitors, amid wide engagement
and remarkable interest in the book and its intellectual and civilizational
themes.
