of the Union Praises “Qatar from Us and We from It” Initiative and Calls for
Its Expansion Across the Gulf and Arab World to Strengthen Social Cohesion and
Unity of the Ummah

His Eminence Sheikh
Professor Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union
of Muslim Scholars, received on Monday evening, May 25, a delegation from the
“Qatar from Us and We from It” initiative at the Union headquarters in the Qatari
capital, Doha. The meeting was marked by an atmosphere of mutual appreciation
and cordiality, and featured in-depth discussions on the importance of
strengthening social cohesion, promoting values of belonging and solidarity,
and reinforcing the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Unity of
the Ummah
During the meeting,
Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi affirmed that the unity of Muslims and the strengthening of
bonds of brotherhood and cooperation represent a fundamental pillar in building
stable societies capable of facing challenges. He noted that the “Qatar from Us
and We from It” initiative embodies these noble values through its efforts to
enhance a sense of belonging and solidarity among citizens and residents, and
to consolidate the concept of societal partnership in a way that serves the
State of Qatar and supports its development journey.
The President of the
International Union of Muslim Scholars added that strong societies are built
upon the values of mutual respect, cooperation, and positive coexistence,
stressing that purposeful community initiatives serve as important bridges for
strengthening national unity and consolidating social stability.
An
Inspiring Experience
His Eminence praised
the idea and humanitarian and social mission of the initiative, expressing his
aspiration that this successful experience be extended to various Gulf
countries and the wider Arab world, given its positive contributions to
enhancing social cohesion and strengthening bonds of affection and cooperation
among members of society from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
He further pointed
out that when a person lives in a homeland or place of residence that provides
security, stability, respect, and dignified opportunities, they develop a sense
of belonging to it, and it becomes a source of tranquility and reassurance, thereby
reinforcing values of loyalty, giving, and shared responsibility toward society.
Appreciation
and Gratitude
For his part, Dr.
Kamal Aslan, the General Coordinator of the “Qatar from Us and We from It”
initiative, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Dr. Ali
Al-Qaradaghi for the warm reception and generous hospitality, conveying the
gratitude of all members of the initiative for this meeting, which reflects the
attention of intellectual and scholarly leadership to constructive community
initiatives.
He explained that
the initiative began in a spontaneous and simple manner before gradually
expanding to include a distinguished group of residents of multiple
nationalities. Today, it includes members representing more than fifteen
countries, in a model that reflects the cultural, scientific, and intellectual
diversity that characterizes the State of Qatar.
Human
Values
Dr. Aslan affirmed
that the initiative is completely independent of any political orientations or
special interests, and is grounded in promoting human and social values and
reinforcing the concepts of coexistence, cooperation, and community service. He
noted that its members are highly qualified individuals who have achieved
notable success in various professional and academic fields within the State of
Qatar.
He added that the
selection of members is based on precise criteria of professional excellence
and geographic and cultural diversity, which has contributed to strengthening
the initiative’s presence and expanding its positive impact within society.
Presentation
of the Initiative’s Objectives
During the meeting,
Dr. Kamal Aslan delivered a comprehensive presentation on the initiative’s
objectives and social mission, highlighting its symbols and key activities, as
well as visits carried out by its members to national figures and Qatari
institutions, as part of strengthening community engagement and reinforcing the
values of partnership and belonging.
In conclusion, His
Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi prayed for Muslims during these blessed
days, asking Almighty Allah to preserve the State of Qatar in security,
prosperity, and goodness, and to grant success and blessing to those in charge
of the initiative and to crown their efforts with success.
Following the
meeting, His Eminence accompanied the delegation on a tour of the Union
headquarters, where they were introduced to its various departments, halls, and
library, and learned about its work, academic and intellectual programs, and
services dedicated to the Muslim Ummah.
