IUMS mourns the departure of scholar, IUMS member, Wahbi Ghawji Al-Albani
With hearts filled with acceptance for God’s will, we received the news of the passing away of our honored brother, scholar, preacher, educator, Shaykh Wahbi Ghawji Al-Albani, one of the prominent scholars of the Muslim world, on Tuesday in Sharjah at 90 years of age.
The landmark scholar Wahbi Ghawji was an established authority in science and knowledge and one of the god-knowing scholars who gathered vast knowledge of Islamic creed and jurisprudence with a behavior resembling that of the good ancestors in their worship, beseech for Allah, piety, asceticism, and commitment to following the method of the Ahl Al Sunnah Wal Jama`a (Sunni consensus).
The departed Shaykh was the author of many valuable resources in Arabic and Albanian and has served knowledge, jurisprudence, and the call to Allah since his immigration with his family at the age of 14 from his hometown in Shkoder, Albania, when they fled to protect their religion during the time of the communist attack. The family settled in Damascus while the scholar settled in the last months of his life in Sharjah, Emirates.
The Muslim nation has lost one of its Godly scholars whom we pray to Allah Almighty to forgive, grant mercy, reward him with the best reward, to grant him a dignified, spacious abode, accept him in Paradise, shower him with his content and mercy, and resurrect him with those whom He blessed of prophets, truthful believers, martyrs and good men, and to inspire his family, colleagues, students, and those who loved him patience and solace, for He is the best Protector and best Answerer to our prayers.
And to Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.
