IUMS declares solidarity with Palestinian detainee, condemns international silence, calls factions to unite
All praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, God’s messenger, and his family and those who follow him;
The International Union of Muslim Scholars follows the updates on what Palestinian detainees suffer in the prisons of the unfair occupation, particularly the serious situation of detainee Samer Al-Eisawi in his battle of dignity against his executioners by going on hunger strike in the Israeli Ofer prison.
Seeing this continued Israeli stubbornness and oppression of our Palestinian brothers, including detainee Samer Al-Eisawi, the IUMS views the following:
First: the union asserts its complete solidarity with detainee Samer Al-Eisawi who has been on hunger strike for more than 200 days now, along with other detainees whose strike is among the longest in prisons, declares full support for the prisoner is his adversity, and bears the good tidings of soon relief, with Allah’s assistance, after this long patience. Allah Almighty has promised that {those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure!} [Quran: 39:10].
Second: the union condemns the continued, unjustified international silence and the silence of humanitarian and human rights organizations toward this just cause of detainee Samer Al-Eisawi who is making demands for his just rights and his human dignity. The union calls the international community, all honorable people across the globe, as well as civil society organizations and institutions to fulfill their obligations and responsibilities according to international law and forcefully urges them to exert efforts to release detainee Samer Al-Eisawi and all Palestinian detainees in occupation prisons.
Third: the union demands Arab and Muslim countries, on top of them the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to break their silence and translate their solidarity with detainees into practical steps on the ground that focus on pressuring the occupation and thus ending the suffering of detainees and prisoners.
Fourth: the union demands the Palestinian factions to unite in the camp of defending detainees and prisoners, join all efforts and devote them to one goal: that of ending the suffering of more than 4000 detainees and prisoners who live the worst kind of injustice inside Israeli occupation prisons.
{And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!}
