IUMS urges governments, relief agencies to rescue Syrian refugees from cold
All praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, God’s messenger, his family, companions and followers;
The International Union of Muslim Scholars follows the conditions of the free, Syrian brothers who rose to defend their freedom and dignity against injustice, tyranny and dictatorship. The outcome, however, has been the killing and injury of tens of thousands of lives, the destruction of property, the displacement of millions and the aggression on all the basics of life. Despite this dreadful scene, the world stands divided between a group that supports the heroic Syrian people and their just cause, and in this camp fall all Arab, Muslim and freedom loving nations, in addition to a number of governments like Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia; another spectator group that stands careless of what happens of the violation of sanctities; and a third group that backs such injustice and supports it.
Relief wise, the humanitarian situation is becoming ever more serious and tragic within light of the latest unusually cold weather hitting Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq that resulted in some deaths and increased diseases particularly due to the lack of warming methods, and proper places for accommodation.
Before this tragic situation resulting from the Levant tyrant’s continued intentional killing of his people, including men, women, seniors, youth, and children for more than two years, the IUMS views and affirms the following:
First: The IUMS urges all active consciences in the world to come together to save the Syrian people from their tyrant through any legitimate means. The true solution is the departure of the tyrant, and the right of the Syrian people to self-determination to choose their leadership by free will. This would be a revival of this nation, and otherwise would be the murder of them all as Allah Almighty has said: {if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.} [Quran 5: 32]. This is a religious and ethical responsibility for all Arabs, Muslims and those of a living conscience in the world to shoulder.
Second: The IUMS urges governments and relief agencies in the Arab and Muslim world to speedily rescue their Syrian brothers and sisters, provide them with relief, and save them from death due to the cold and snowy weather, or the lack of food and medication. The union further urges them to provide a dignified life for those who sacrificed themselves, their children – the apples of their eyes, and their dearest possessions for the sake of freedom and dignity as this among the most certain obligations of Islam. Prophet Muhammad – peace and blessings be upon him said that (The similitude of believers in their mutual love, affection, fellow-feeling is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body joins, with sleeplessness and fever.) [Agreed, narrated by Al-Nu`man Ibn Al-Basheer]. He also said that ("A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim – he does not wrong him nor does he forsake him when he is in need; whosoever is fulfilling the needs of his brother, Allah is fulfilling his needs; whosoever removes distress from a believer, Allah removes from him a distress from a distressful aspect of the Day of Resurrection; and whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection.”) [Agreed, narrated by Ibn Umar].
And from Allah is all assistance
