The Union offers condolences on the death of the Egyptian reciter Sheikh Abdullah Kamil at the age of 38.

Almighty Allah said: (O soul at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing, and enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise) Surah Al-Fajr 27-30.

With great sadness and sorrow, we have received the news of the death of the prominent Egyptian reciter Sheikh Abdullah Kamil in the United States, who led the Taraweeh prayers for the Muslim community in Brooklyn, New York during last Ramadan, at the age of 38, may Allah have mercy on him.

Born in 1985 in a village called "Al-Mushrik Al-Qabli" in the Youssef Al-Siddiq district of the Egyptian Fayoum Governorate, Sheikh Abdullah Kamil graduated from the Faculty of Dar Al-Uloom at Fayoum University in 2005. Despite being blind since birth, he mastered the entire Quran in Braille at a young age.

The late Sheikh Abdullah Kamil was known for his beautiful voice in reciting the Quran, his melodious chanting, and his poetry compositions. He also had a number of humorous videos, as well as numerous recordings on his official YouTube channel, which is followed by more than a million people.

He participated in a competition called "The Golden Flute" in 2015, which was presented on a well-known satellite channel called "Al-Fajr", and won first place. He also participated in presenting a number of Islamic religious programs on several satellite channels such as "Al-Rahma", "Al-Nas", "Al-Hafez", "Al-Nada" and many others.

The Islamic nation has lost a sincere seeker, a great thinker, and a scholar among its dedicated scholars. We ask Allah the Almighty to forgive him and have mercy on him, to admit him to Paradise, and to join him with the prophets, the righteous, and the excellent companions. We also ask Allah to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace. Indeed, He is the best Lord and the best to answer prayers.

To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
