The Union offers condolences on the passing of Sheikh Mohammed Al-Saleh Ait Aljat at the age of 82

Allah, the Almighty, said in Surah Al-Fajr (27-30): "O soul at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing, and enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise."

With heavy hearts, we received the news of the passing of Sheikh Mohammed Al-Saleh Ait Aljat, the son of Algerian scholar Sheikh Tahar Ait Aljat, at the age of 82. May Allah have mercy on him.

Sheikh Mohammed Al-Saleh Ait Aljat was born in 1941 in Batna, Algeria. He learned Quran and writing from his grandfather, Sheikh Mekran, and joined the Sidi El Said Zawiya with his father, the scholar Mohammed Tahar Ait Aljat, in 1948. He completed the memorization of the Quran and studied Arabic language and literature, jurisprudence, and various other sciences in the Zawiya.

After Algeria's independence, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Saleh Ait Aljat received his education in Tunisia through student missions. He attended primary and secondary education and graduated from the University of Algiers in June 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in literature, Arabic language, and Islamic civilization.

Among his works are "Sheikh Al-Mawlood Al-Hafithi: Life and Legacy" and "A Century Journey of the Scholar Sheikh Mohammed Tahar Ait Aljat."

The Islamic nation has lost one of its devoted scholars. We ask Allah, the Almighty, to forgive him, have mercy on him, and admit him to Paradise. May he be gathered with the prophets, the truthful ones, and the righteous as his companions. We also ask Allah to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace. Indeed, Allah is the best guardian and the best answerer.

Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
