The authorities were alerted after a man deliberately drove his vehicle into a parking garage near a mosque in Toronto. He not only tried to run over worshipers but also struck other vehicles in the process.
After this incident, the suspect, a Canadian driver, fled the scene and headed to another mosque, where he repeated the same dangerous behavior. The motive behind the attacks is believed to be rooted in hatred towards Muslims.
The police apprehended a 28-year-old man in connection with the incidents. He is facing multiple charges, including dangerous use of a vehicle, five counts of criminal harassment, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, assault, engaging in offensive conduct in public places, and insulting others. Additionally, the suspect has been charged with another incident near a mosque in Markham on April 7th.
