IUMS offers condolences on the passing of Sheikh Abdul Baqi Arslan Al-Husseini, the leader of the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi Sufi

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Allah, the Almighty, said in Surah Al-Fajr (27-30): "O soul at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing, and enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise."

The International Union of Muslim Scholars mourns the passing of Sheikh Abdul Baqi Arslan Al-Husseini, the leader of the Manzil Naqshbandi Sufi Order in Turkey, also known as Al-Husseini, at the age of 74 after suffering from a severe illness.

The deceased, may Allah have mercy on him, was born on May 2, 1949, in the village of Manzil in the Qahta region of Adiyaman province. His father was Mr. Abdul Hakim Al-Husseini, one of the esteemed sheikhs of the Naqshbandi Order, and he belonged to the noble lineage of the Prophet Muhammad.

The late Sheikh assumed leadership of the group after the passing of his elder brother, Mohammad Rashid Erol, who became the sheikh following their father's death on October 22, 1993.

The late Sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, learned the Arabic language and religious sciences at his father's school in his village. He continued his education in the city of Sirt and Van, and had many followers.

The Islamic nation has lost a knowledgeable and devoted scholar. We ask Allah, the Most High, to forgive him, have mercy on him abundantly, admit him to the Paradise of Firdaus, gather him with the prophets and the righteous, and make him among the best companions. May Allah grant patience and solace to his family and loved ones. He is indeed the Best Guardian and Responder.

To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.
